Week Two Expected Thrillers

After an exciting inaugural weekend resulting in some huge scoring drives by veteran teams and exposure of some of the league's new expansion organizations, week two is expected to start just where last week left off. Week two will begin on Saturday, December 13th starting with an East division matinee followed by two evening games.

PBL GAME OF THE WEEK:

Buffalo vs. Erie, Saturday, December 13th @ 1:30pm

The PBL Game of the Week is anticipated to be an exciting battle between the Buffalo 716ers (1-0) and the Erie Hurricane (0-1). The two teams will actually meet for a home-and-home series starting in Buffalo on Saturday and then in Erie on Sunday.

Last season the 716ers were 5-1 on the season against the Hurricane, outscoring the boys in Erie 731-575 and building a very intense rivalry. The 716ers five victories against the Hurricane would help drive them to a strong third place finish in the East Division, just knocking them short of a post-season spot. Erie would finish last in the East division with their sole victory coming against the 716ers.

The 716ers current point leader after their victory last weekend is Glenroy Carr. Carr posted 21 points, three assists and eight total rebounds. During the 2014 PBL season, Carr was the third highest scoring player on the 716ers with 15.6-points per game and looks to be the veteran star of the organization to lead them to the postseason.

This will be the Hurricane's first game of the season, so their star player of the season is yet to be shown, however, Lester Jones was the stud that kept the Hurricane from getting blown out many times last season. In 2014, Jones posted 30.9-points per game, totaled 53 assist and 87 rebounds. He was one of the top players in the entire league and is expected to bring similar numbers to the table this year as well.
 
Opening Weekend Recap

The Premier Basketball League season kicked off with what was anticipated as one of the most intense match-ups in the league.

The defending champion Rochester RazorSharks defeated the Carolina Pee Dee Vipers 132-77. The game was televised nationally on the Soul of the South Network, as well as ESPN3.

Other games included the Buffalo 716ers conquering the Lynchburg Titans at home 127-87. Then closing out Saturday's games was a 114-105 victory for the Lake Michigan Admirals over the Racine Storm, who made their PBL debut.

Then on Sunday, the Danville Riverhawks fell 113-125 to the Lima Express in their inaugural game since relocating. The Carolina Pee Dee Vipers took full advantage of an opportunity for redemption after Saturday's tough loss. The Vipers defeated the Erie Hurricane 119-94 to close out their northeast road-trip.
Player Transactions

On Saturday, December 6th the Lake Michigan Admirals defeated the Racine Storm in their season home opener 114-105. Unfortunately for the Admirals, they will be without one of their bigger star players.

After playing in what will likely be his only PBL game of the year, Desmond Blue has moved on to further his professional basketball career after signing Ghazat Hashem Irbid in the Jordan Premier League.

After their victory over the Storm, Blue is tied for the team lead in rebounds with 11 and was the fourth highest scoring player with 14 points.

The Admirals hope to stay undefeated when they host the Danville Riverhawks (0-1) on Saturday, December 13th at 6:06pm.
